Matthew and Nathan both had break the week after Easter and we had the most amazing vacation! We decided to head down to Orlando and visit the Kennedy Space Center, see Shamu, head to the beach, and just get away.
It was simply fantastic. The boys had so much fun and as a family, we enjoyed every single day. The only negative was that it went by too quickly!
The pictures tell the story better than I can. Enjoy!
A few days before we headed south, we found out there was a Shuttle Launch scheduled for Monday the 19th. This program is about to end and so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to see a launch in person and share it with the boys. This picture doesn't do it justice, but we were on the beach at Patrick AFB and saw and heard the launch. Amazing!

Sunrise over the ocean...
The smoke trail from the Shuttle..the wind whipped it around and the sun shone brightly as it rose over the horizon.
Later that day on the beach at Patrick AFB.
Sand castle building
A shot of the beach and Cocoa Beach in the distance.
Nathan being Nathan.
Both boys enjoyed it SO much!
Matthew said "Look mom, now I won't have to shower!"
But then he got cold and decided to warm up...
And he went back to building sand castles, and Nathan was in charge of the water supply.
The next day at Kennedy Space Center.
Nathan took a few pictures on the tour bus.
Launch Pad Complex 39 where the Shuttle was launched the previous day.
The crawler that transports the Shuttle to the launch pad once it's ready to go.
The computers and set up just as it was for the Apollo 7 launch..first manned extended mission into space.
Apollo VII's launch.
Thrusters of the Saturn V rocket that took the Apollo program to space and beyond.
For perspective..that's one of the thrusters above the boys.
The Tulsa World in 1969, day after we landed on the moon.
The Apollo 14 capsule..Matthew was fascinated by this.
Cockpit of a mock Shuttle.
My three astronauts.
The boys and me in an Apollo mock up. 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF as Nathan would say...
And they fly the flag of the current Shuttle mission.
The boys were exhausted!
At SeaWorld we saw the dolphin show...
Water skiing with dolphins!
Then we saw the Elmo and Abbey show...Matthew chose this "hat" for a souvenier.
Nathan LOVED it!
And the Shamu show!
The dummies in the splash zone got drenched...
See?
So very cool..amazing animals!
Then we checked out the Penguin Encounter
And the Clyde and Seamore show.
Guest starring this Manatee
And naturally we ran into some women dressed as birds on stilts. Doesn't everyone?
And we rode some rides...Nathan was ALL about the Shamu Express roller coaster.
And ahhh...back the beach for a day. This time we went to Cocoa Beach. So fun!
We buried them in the sand at their request...
How can his face be this dirty and he doesn't know/care?
Nathan was covered!
Then Andy gave Matthew some "accessories." LOL
Good bye Cocoa Beach. Good bye Spring Break!
And of course Nathan was up to something and Matthew was quietly telling him something under his breath...back to reality!
